Boyzie “Cha-Cha” Philip Grant, 78, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on March 2, 2019. He was the husband of Rebecca (Johnson) Grant of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, he was the son of the late Emilia Farmer and Samuel Grant. Mr. Grant moved to the Kono District, a province in Sierra Leone, in 1958 and worked at Sierra Leone Selection Trust (SLST) as a diamond miner for over fifty years. He moved back to Freetown after the Rebel War in the provinces. He spent most of his time in the Eastern part of Freetown and moved to Pawtucket, RI, U.S. in 2015. He enjoyed playing soccer, dancing, spending time with children and family and had a wonderful sense of humor. Boyzie played soccer for Diamond Stars and was an excellent soccer player. Mr. Grant was a cheerful, loving, charming and peaceful father, grand-father, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle and friend to many.
