Bernadette Cawley

Central Falls, RI – Bernadette Cawley, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born on September 3, 1928, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Bernadette lived a life rich in love, family, and service.

A longtime resident of Central Falls, Bernadette spent much of her career as a secretary for the City of Central Falls and as medical secretary in the office of Yalakki Gowda, MD. where her meticulous attention to detail and warm demeanor left a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of working with her.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Thomas E.

Cawley Jr.; her parents, Napoleon J.

LaFerriere and Josephine (Gendreau) LaFerriere; her son, Steven Cawley; and her siblings, Rita Silva, Theresa Beauregard, Gerard LaFerriere, Philip LaFerriere, and Beatrice Howe.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Debra A.

Cawley of Rumford, and Nancy Jean and her husband, Timothy, of Lincoln.

Her legacy lives on in her three grandchildren, Tara Feole, Tyler Cawley and his partner Jessica, and Alexander Croce and his wife Sofia, along with four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

Bernadette had a passion for life that included bowling at the former Bowling Academy in East Providence and indulging in card games with family and friends.

Her home was a gathering place, always open to all who cherished her generous spirit and endless warmth.

Bernadette was involved with the Ladies of St.

Matthew's Golden Ages, the Notre Dame Senior Citizens, and was a past member of the St.

Matthew's Bowling League and the OPEL Club.

The family invites friends and loved ones to remember and celebrate Bernadette’s life.

VISITATION will be held at William W.

Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, on Tuesday, March 11th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St.

Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford.

Interment will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery.
