Pawtucket – Barbara A. (Kolodziej) Bertrand, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ovila P.
Bertrand for forty years.
She was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Rzepecki) Kolodziej.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket, most recently of Bristol, and attended Tolman High School.
She was a faithful communicant of the former Church of St.
Leo the Great, Pawtucket, and dedicated her life to caring for her children.
Barbara worked outside of the home for Raytheon, North Dighton, and later at the former Texas Instruments, Attleboro.
A strong-willed woman who was ahead of her time, Barbara enjoyed making her famous pierogi’s and celebrating her Polish holiday traditions.
She was the “Grandma” of the neighborhood, and all the children enjoyed spending time with her and her grandchildren.
Barbara’s fiery spirit and tough love will be greatly missed by the lives she has touched over the years.
She is survived by three children, Michael O.
Bertrand and his wife, Gale, of Pawtucket, Sheila A.
Mulcahy and her husband, Gary, of Bristol and Scott J.
Bertrand of Pawtucket; three grandchildren, Tracy Bertrand, Gary Mulcahy, Jr., and Caley Mulcahy, and her beloved granddog, Rocket.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in St.
Cecilia Church of St.
John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
