With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arthur P. Vacca, Jr., a devoted husband, father, and friend, who touched so many lives with his kind spirit and sense of adventure. Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1936, Arthur’s journey through life was one filled with passion, dedication, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. In 1974, Arthur made the bold decision to leave the New England thoroughbred racing circuit, relocating his family to Key West, Florida— his personal “Camelot.” It was here that he found joy and purpose in the island’s vibrant community, the crystal-clear waters, the camaraderie of the island people, and the unique, rich local culture. Arthur’s love for the sea led him to design and build two boats, Strawberry Hill I and Strawberry Hill II, from which he captained for charter and commercial fishing ventures.
