Pawtucket – Arthur C.

Prescott, 89, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

He was the beloved husband of JoAnn C. (Hess) Prescott and the late Emelia (Horridge) Prescott.

Arthur was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket, and son of the late Arthur D. and Emma L. (Wagstaff) Prescott.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred and Ruth.

Arthur attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and went on to a career as an elevator constructor with Otis Elevator Company and IUEC Local 4 Boston.

Arthur was also an instructor with the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP).

In his personal life, Arthur was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Pawtucket, where he served for many years as a lay minister and volunteer.

He was also a volunteer at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and for the Central Falls School Department, where he helped children learn to read.

He was a longtime volunteer at his son’s Boy Scout Troop 15 of Pawtucket.

Throughout his life Arthur and his family enjoyed spending summers together at their beach home in Narragansett.

In his later years he enjoyed traveling the world, trivia, and spending time with family and friends.

He was also an avid reader.

Besides his loving wife JoAnn, Arthur leaves a sister, Julia Prescott, of Minnesota; devoted cousin, Paul Wagstaff, of Attleboro;  three children, Susan I.

Aynalem and her husband, Shewarega, of Jamestown, Judith E.

Prescott and her husband, Thomas Patterson, of Smithfield, and Arthur H.

Prescott and his wife, Tara, of Seekonk; six grandchildren, Matthew Aynalem and his wife, Lorena, Katelyn Lopes and her husband, William, Jessica LeDoux and her husband, Paul, Jason Patterson, Devon Adams, and Eli Adams; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Aynalem and Liam Lopes; six step-children, James Brady and his wife, Debra, of Attleboro, Noel Paris and her husband, Scott, of Providence, Brooke Rooney and her husband, Kyle, of Lincoln, Brian Brady and his wife, Cindy, John Brady, and Holly Crotty and her husband, Matt, of Attleboro; seven step-grandchildren, Keegan Brady, Bella Brady, Lila Crotty, Ella Marcotte, Olive Rooney, Scarlett Rooney, and Magnus Rooney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services followed by interment at Moshassuck Cemetery will be private.
