Arlindo F. Gomes, 71, of Pawtucket died Wednesday September 30, 2015 atRhode Island Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. Hewas born, raised and educated in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of Virginia(Fortes) Gomes and the late Antonio P. Gomes. He was a veteran havingserved in the Cabo Verdean Armed Forces. Following an honorable dischargehe began a 38 year career in Law Enforcement as a police officer in Sao Vicente,Cape Verde, retiring in 1998. Arlindo loved fishing, farming andgardening. He was a volunteer at the Cape Verdean American CommunityDevelopment of Rhode Island. He was a stoic man, reserved and calm with agreat sense of humor to those who knew him. He was a kind, giving manalways willing to help others, putting those in need before himself. Hewas the father of three sons, Joao M. Gomes of Santiago, Cape Verde,Antonio C.
