Antonio Fernandes

Pawtucket – Antonio Fernandes, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Cremilde (Raimundo) Fernandes. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Francisco and Maria de Luz (Matos) Fernandes.

Antonio worked for over thirty-three years at American Insulated Wire in Pawtucket to provide for his family and his home. He enjoyed gardening, producing homemade wine, and from time-to-time Antonio enjoyed fishing.

Above all, Antonio was a devout Christian and was born again in his savior, Jesus Christ. He was devoted to his faith and his family and will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he has touched over the past ninety-eight years.

Besides his beloved wife, Antonio leaves six children, Lumenia Leandro and her husband, David, of Brooklyn, CT, Marylu Fernandes of Danielson, CT, Leo Fernandes and his wife, Cheryl, of Rumford, Lucy Lampinski and Joseph Fernandes both of Pawtucket, and Maria Melo and her husband, Paulo, of East Providence; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Maria Paine and the brother of the late Manuel Fernandes, Domingos Fernandes, Virginio Fernandes, Joao Fernandes and Maria Leandro.

Services will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
