Pawtucket – Anthony “Tony” W. Mowry, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family on Monday, October 21, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. (Carlos) Mowry for 64 years. Born in Rumford, a son of the late Anthony W. and Rose (Sousa-Ramos) Mowry, he resided in Pawtucket most of his life. Tony served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer aboard the LST653 during World War II. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Rhode Island to work as a crane operator at the Washburn Wire Company. After he married, Tony became the Principle Manufacturing Engineer at Globe Narrow Fabric Company, Pawtucket for forty years. He was a musician who played trombone in several bands, most recently with the Strictly Sentimental Swing Band. Tony was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins fan. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Seekonk and a member of American Legion Post No. 79, Central Falls. Besides his wife, he leaves five children,...
