Providence – Anastasios “Tommy” Kounavis, 75, passed away following health complications on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Born in Krini, Greece, he was the son of the late Aristomenis and Aggeliki (Stathopoulos) Kounavis. Anastasios lived most of his life in Pawtucket and Providence, Rhode Island. Affectionately known as “Tommy” to many friends and family, he was a proud Greek-American who deeply embraced his heritage. He loved spending time in his hometown of Krini, Greece, where he found joy in tending to his beloved olive trees. A hardworking restaurateur, Anastasios owned Jiffy Chef in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and later in life, Georgia’s Family Restaurant in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, gathering daily with friends for coffee at the local Market Basket and at Sam’s New York System Restaurant.
