Thurber, Jr., 80, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011.
He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley A. (Mutter) Thurber.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Alvin L., Sr. and Maryann (Reek) Thurber.
Al was the proprietor of S & A Construction Co., Pawtucket for many years.
He was an avid antique car collector; enjoyed participating in car shows, and was a member of the Antique Auto Club of America.
Together with his son, Alvin, they built the world’s largest Monster Truck “Godzilla”.
Al leaves a son, Alvin L.
Thurber, III and his wife, Bethany; a daughter, Susan A.
Thurber all of Pawtucket; three grandchildren, Melissa B.
Thurber of North Providence, Kristen L. and Shirleyann Thurber both of Pawtucket; a brother, George F.
Thurber of Pawtucket and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.
Joseph Church, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
VISITATION will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m.
