Adelina S. Machado

d. May 27, 2024

Machado, 89, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Born May 5, 1935 in Cedros, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose da Rosa Silveira and Maria Amelia (Moitoso) Silveira.

She was the loving wife of the late Eduardo Machado and the proud mother of two daughters, Dina Machado of Manteca, CA and Dana Costa and her husband, Luis Costa, of Seekonk, MA; two grandchildren, Nicole and Danny and three great-grandchildren, Elias, Logan and Penelope.

She is also survived by her two brothers, Manuel Silveira in Canada, Jose Silveira of Pawtucket, RI; her sister, Laura Rodrigues of Pawtucket, RI and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Maria Lemos of Faial, Azores.

Adelina immigrated to the United States in 1957 with her husband and settled in Pawtucket, RI.

She worked at Murdock Webbing and Hasbro before retiring in 1979.

For the past 30 years she enjoyed vacationing at her home in Cedros, Faial, where she was always welcomed.

Adelina loved spending time with her family and friends, singing and listening to Fado Music, taking care of her plants, calling her friends often, and going to Slater Park with her daughter every weekend to visit the swans.

She was also a woman of great faith and devotion to the Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Fatima.

She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, independence, caring, loving and very giving nature.

She was a vibrant soul, always young at heart, her sense of humor brought much laughter and fun to those around her, as did her unique ability in storytelling.

Adelina had a great sense of style, but her most memorable trademark was her love for her lipstick, which was always at hand!

Though she may no longer be with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are invited to Adelina’s Celebration of Life by attending a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. in St.

Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket.

Burial with her late husband in the Azores will be private.
