Adele M. Shwaery

Pawtucket – Adele M. (Habib) Shwaery, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 15, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of Frederick N.

Shwaery, Sr., the couple had been married for seventy-two years.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Abdella and Diane (Haddad) Habib.

As a teenager, Adele was an Ice Capette and a Montreal champion softball player.

She resided in Pawtucket since 1952.

She was the manager of the former Frederick Michaels Sports and Play, Taunton, for twenty-one years until retiring in 1990.

Adele was previously employed in the deli at the former Star Market, South Attleboro.

She was a member of St.

Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church and their Ladies Society.

Adele was a fighter and the voice of the underdog.

She advocated for troubled youth, often acting as a surrogate parent, feeding, clothing and giving much needed advice.

Adele was a pioneer in advocating for children with developmental and physical disabilities to have schooling and day programs.

Above all, she loved her family.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Linda A.

Dvelis of Pawtucket; two sons, Frederick N.

Shwaery, Jr. and his wife, Catherine, of Virginia and Robert M.

Shwaery of Pawtucket; a sister, Diane Rahal of Toronto, Canada; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Frederick Habib, Albert Habib, Denise Aboud Dowd, Annie Astphan and Angel Mackarous.

VISITATION will begin on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St.

Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High St., Pawtucket, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket.

Memorial gifts to the Church would be appreciated.
