Lee R. Gilbert

West Warwick – Lee R. Gilbert, 70, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Michelle D. (Paterson) Gilbert. Lee was predeceased by his first wife, Suzanne C. (Goyette) Gilbert. Lee was a devout member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Warwick and gave selflessly to the ministries of the community. He was also a longtime and loving volunteer at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence where he would visit the young patients bringing smiles and comfort to so many children and their families. Lee worked for the Bernardi Auto Group as the lot manager for many years until his recent retirement. He was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed building model cars. He later took a part-position at University GI in 2012, where he met Michelle. Lee was also an avid football fan closely followed the professional career of Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. In his free time in his younger days, Lee enjoyed painting, drawing, playing the guitar and served as Karate sensei. Lee will be lovingly remembered by all his family and friends as a devout and loving husband, father and grandfather who held no prejudices or pretention in his heart. He was loyal to his church, his family and all his dear friends. Lee’s memory will be cherished for countless years to come. Besides his loving wife, he leaves a daughter, Erika M. Gilbert of Pawtucket; two grandchildren, Daniel Lee Gilbert and JahNeatha Marie Gilbert; two great-grandsons, Kimani Noah Gilbert and Nyziaiah Anthony Gilbert; two brothers, David and Roland Gilbert; a sister, Darlene Hilton and many nieces and nephews. He was the great-grandfather of the late Cyriah Joann Gilbert and brother of the late Ralph, Ronald, Peter and Stephen Gilbert. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend VISITATION on Sunday November 22nd from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. The funeral and interment at Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated. According to local health department guidelines and restrictions, social distancing and facial coverings will be required for admittance to the visitation. Upon arrival at the funeral home you will be directed to a parking space and asked to remain in your vehicle until directed into the funeral home by an attendant.
