Anna Karalis

Pawtucket – Anna (Ioanna Kiousis) Karalis, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 20, 2020. She was the beloved wife of George Karalis. Born in Psathopyrgos, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Sotirios and Asimo (Angelopoulou) Kiousis, and was a resident of Pawtucket since her arrival to the United States in 1957. A few years later, she proudly became a US citizen. Anna was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family. Her passion was being near the ocean, a reminder of the seaside village where she was born and raised. Anna was proud of her Greek heritage, deep religious faith and was a devoted member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket. She especially enjoyed cooking, reading, and travelling back to Greece for time with family and friends. Anna was very generous and always eager to help others in their time of need. With her self-taught English reading and writing skills, she could often be found accompanying close friends to various appointments in order to help with translation. Anna will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she has touched over the past eighty-three years. Besides her loving husband, Anna leaves two children, C. Diana Fackos of Pawtucket and Michael Lortos and his wife, Karen, of Attleboro; one stepson, John Karalis and his wife, Niki Dimitriou-Karali, of Revere, one stepdaughter, Aristea Karali and her husband, Michael Nakas, of Rhodes, Greece, three grandchildren, Matthew and Katherine Lortos, Elpitha Santos, four step-grandchildren, Eleni Karalis, Kosta Nakas, Eleni Nakas, Mika Nakas, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of George Kiousis, Hariklia Triantafyllopoulou, John Kiousis, and the late Maria Tolias. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a WALK-THROUGH VISITATION will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott St., Pawtucket. The funeral service and burial will be PRIVATE. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anna Karalis may be sent to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements are entrusted with WILLIAM W.
