Prata, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Judy Prata for nearly twenty-five years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Achilles and Florence (Duquette) Prata.
Alan began his career as an auto mechanic at fourteen years old when he began working for his uncle Normand at the family shop, Gansett Sunoco, Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
He continued work in the automotive field, ultimately working independently offering warranty inspections as an ASE Certified Mechanic, until his retirement in January of 2025.
Alan was an avid fan of stock car racing and was a regular at Seekonk Speedway, where he also raced late models in the 80’s, Stafford Speedway and Thompson Speedway.
He also enjoyed gardening, photography and loved being an umpire for Rumford Little League Baseball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Roger A.
Prata and his wife, Melissa, of Massachusetts and Jamie L.
Prata of Pawtucket; two stepchildren, Bethany M.
Weiser and her husband, Christopher, of Colorado and Joseph Mello of Rumford; three adoring grandchildren, Kory A.
Prata of Illinois, Kailyn E. and Parker A.
Prata, both of Connecticut, and a great-granddaughter, Poppy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Services on Thursday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. in WILLIAM W.
TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
Interment will follow at Mount St.
Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Visitation is respectfully omitted.
