PAWTUCKET – Thomas A. Cooper, 66, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Edna M. (Piche) Cooper, the couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Born in Providence, the son of the late Thomas A. and Ida E. (Chace) Cooper, he resided in Pawtucket most of his married life. Tom served in the Army National Guard. He was a lithographer for Mowbray Printing, Providence for over twenty years before retiring in 1996. He then opened Cooper’s Smoke Shop, Pawtucket which he operated until illness in 2002. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 251; Newman Congregational Church, Rumford and the LeFoyer Dart Club, Pawtucket where he was known as “Lightning”. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Thomas A. Cooper, III and his wife, Christine of West Warwick; four sisters, Eunice Hughes of Smithfield, Regina Fiontella of Johnston, Carol Brown of North Providence and Edna Grant of Newport; two grandchildren, Derek and Juliana Cooper and nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence. VISITATION Friday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, C/O Newman Congregational Church, 100 Newman Ave., Rumford, RI 02916 will be appreciated.
